⚔️ Battle of Kings Mountain, SC,
7 October 1780
The Battle of King’s Mountain, although relatively small scale, provides some fascinating insights into how the American Revolution developed in the south. By 1780, with British forces under pressure in the north, the British commander in the Americas, Sir Henry Clinton, decided to take the war to the southern states; partly to spread the American regular forces more thinly, and partly to take advantage of the generally pro-King George stance of much of the south.
